Celluloide's first two albums took over the story from where the pioneers of the genre had somehow lost their way after their 1978–1982 era. Yet the band felt they could allow themselves to bring more diverse influences into new compositions.

The Bodypop EP was conceived as the manifesto of a new direction. Introducing EBM elements and blending genre names, it became the first turning point of a mutation that would eventually reshape Celluloide's music.
